There has been a serious theft of fire-fighting and life-saving equipment from the Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire Department.  The equipment will be difficult to sell, but the community is asked to keep your eyes open at yard sales and pawn shops.  Information can be submitted anonymously to Lucy Whitmarsh at or by calling 574-8394, or Undersheriff Kevin Flamm at

Those in the neighborhood  of the Cottage San station are asked to look around when they drive by.  Fire Department personnel may have vehicles parked out front, but nobody parks in the back.  There is not usually supposed to be anyone there at night unless there is a fire or an exercise at the station.  Neighbors are asked to report suspicious vehicles to the above contacts
