Congratulations to Harrison Schmitt Elementary School Teacher Jessica Hoffman who was selected as the 2023-2024 “Teacher of the Year” by the Silver Consolidated School District. Mrs. Hoffman was recognized for consistently demonstrating remarkable leadership, both within the school and across the district. She was also recognized for helping develop materials that support the rollout of the Ron Clark Academy practices for Pre-K through 12th grade and for the inventive and adaptable instructional methods she uses to cater to the diverse needs of the students. Mrs. Hoffman’s dedication has not only improved the educational experience for students but has also made her a valued mentor and collaborator among her peers.

As part of the Gila Resources Information Project’s San Vicente Creek River Stewardship Project, Stream Dynamics recently finished building two grade structures in the San Vicente Creek. The project included constructing the boulder cross vane with “A” arm that is built into a bedrock outcrop on the river. They also raised the grade of the stream bed to the next upstream grade control, reconnecting the creek to the floodplain. The goal of the project was to help stabilize the stream bed after removal of flood debris so the creek can run safely and efficiently.
