Celebrating the Fourth of July outdoors is a cherished national tradition, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service welcomes visitors to enjoy the holiday this Friday. However, fireworks and pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited on all public lands, including every forest and campsite, at all times. To ensure a safe and enjoyable Independence Day, visitors are encouraged to check the Gila National Forest website for the latest alerts on site and trail conditions, have alternate destinations in mind, and follow all fire safety guidelines. With Stage 2 fire restrictions currently in effect, the Forest Service urges everyone to recreate responsibly, carry tools to extinguish flames, and report any wildfires by calling 911—always knowing before you go.
