Western New Mexico University recently participated in an exchange event at the “Autonomous University of the West”, where more than 400 students learned about international learning opportunities made possible through a university partnership with the government of the State of Sinaloa. During the conference, participants learned about academic progress, life on and off campus and scholarship opportunities available to Mexican students looking to study at WNMU. Also, some professors participated and shared stories about their personal experiences, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zone and expand their educational horizons. 

Interested in learning how to grow and care for lettuce? The Bayard Public Library will be having a “Let Us Grow Lettuce” workshop tomorrow, March 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The workshop will cover different aspects of lettuce such as: how to grow lettuce, different types, how to harvest lettuce and what to look for when saving seeds. Due to a recent rash of forest gates being left open, The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District’s horses and mules have been grazing pastures along New Mexico Highway 35. The Wilderness Ranger District is asking that the community please help keep the livestock safe by closing gates after you have passed through them. Also, If you are unable to close the gates, please reach out to the Wilderness Ranger District so they can ensure all gates are functional for public use. For more information, visit the website.
