Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

The Gila National Forest Glenwood Ranger District reminds you that New Mexico State Highway 159, Bursom Road, will be closed for the winter beginning Wednesday, November 23rd.  Gates will be locked just north of Mogollon and on the Bear Wallow Lookout Road.  Travelers will need to go through Reserve to get to Willow Creek or Snow Lake until the closure is lifted in the spring.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) will be performing roadway reconstruction operations to NM 26 in Luna County. Construction will begin Monday November 21, 2016 and is expected to be completed by spring 2017.  Traffic will encounter a pilot car operation while work is being performed, closure will be in affect from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, and be cautious of personnel in the area.

In sports action, the WNMU Lady ‘Stang basketball team lost to Fort Lewis College 72-54 in non-conference action on Monday night.  WNMU is 2-1 for the season so far.  The Lady ‘Stangs will play Thursday night at the University of El Paso, Texas for an exhibition match, and continue on to Grant Junction to participate in the Colorado Mesa University Holiday Inn and Suites Thanksgiving Classic.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service will accept and process applications for enrollment in the Conservation Stewardship Pogrom, the nation’s largest conservation program.  Application will be made available in local service centers.
