During the recent Silver City Town Council meeting, council members discussed its intention to adopt an amendment to its Ordinances by adding The Safe Haven for Infants Act, which is committed to saving children’s lives. The purpose of the Safe Haven for Infants Act is to promote the safety of infants and to immunize a parent from criminal prosecution for leaving an infant, 90 days of age or less, at a safe haven site. It would also give parents who are not able to take care of their child, a safe and anonymous way to make sure their child is safe and taken care of for the rest of their lives.
