Happy Thanksgiving!
The very first Thanksgiving occurred in 1621, when the Plymouth colonists from England and the Native American Wampanoag people shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It was not until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a National Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November and is known for spending time with family and friends, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and of course, eating good food. This Thanksgiving let us take time to enjoy our loved ones and be thankful for all we have! From everyone here at Silver City Radio, we want to wish all of our listeners a happy and healthy Thanksgiving day!
