Want to learn more about the history of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument? Join a ranger on a 45-minute guided walk of the cliff dwellings to learn more about the natural and cultural history of the Gila Forks region. The guided walk will take place on Sunday, November 26th at 1:00 p.m. and all those interested are to meet up at the cliff dwellings. The Cobre Consolidated School District recently received a $125,000 grant from the New Mexico Public Education Department to help with behavioral health services, professional development for staff in restorative justice and conflict resolution practices and for after-school programs. C.C. Snell Middle School plans on creating a wellness room with the funds that will focus on social-emotional learning and the mental health of students. The purpose of the room is to help provide a safe place for students when they feel overwhelmed or when they feel their emotions are getting out of control. Work on the wellness room is expected to begin in the upcoming month. 

The Fall Western New Mexico University Academic Symposium and Career Fair will be held Tuesday, November 28th and Wednesday, November 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Students of all disciplines will present projects that pertain to research, public service, technology, and industrial/applied technology. There will also be exhibits of scholarship and teaching along with any other innovative ideas and creative works for the enjoyment of the WNMU community and the public. The Village of Santa Clara’s “Parade of Lights” is coming up on Saturday, December 2nd and the city is still in need of float entries. There is no entry fee, your entry just needs to be covered in Twinkle lights. There will be 3 categories and 3 first place winners. The parade will start at the Fort Bayard hospital and travel down Fort Bayard Street in Santa Clara. The Lordsburg Economic Advancement Project (LEAP) will be hosting their 1st Annual “Light-Up Lordsburg” contest for the holiday season tomorrow, November 25th at 6:30 p.m. This is an effort to light up the entire city of Lordsburg to help create hope and encouragement during the holiday season.
