Silver City Pick It Up-Toss No Mas is inviting the community to their October Spooky cleanup event, tomorrow, October 19th. Faculty members from the Western New Mexico University Counseling Program recently presented at the Rocky Mountain Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, showcasing their efforts to promote competencies in remote mental health services through their tele mental health program. This innovative approach allows counselors and clients to meet remotely using technology, such as video conferencing. The development of the tele mental health curriculum is part of a broader initiative aimed at connecting graduate counseling students with clients in need and establishing a masters-level tele mental health counseling clinic to enhance mental health support in rural and frontier New Mexico.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is offering the Farm and Food Worker Relief Grant Program to support New Mexico farm and livestock workers with expenses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program aims to help defray costs related to preparing for, preventing exposure to, and responding to the pandemic. Eligible workers who were hired for and worked in front-line jobs in the U.S. during the public health emergency may receive a one-time payment of $600. As a reminder, early voting is still underway in Grant, Luna, Hidalgo and Catron County and will continue until November 2nd. Starting tomorrow, October 19th, voters in Grant and Luna County will be able to cast their votes at two new locations:
Grant County Residents- Bayard Community Center, located at 209 Hurley Avenue-(Tuesday-Saturday-9 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Luna County Residents- Mimbres Valley Learning Center, located at 2300 East Pine Street-(Tuesday- Friday-11 a.m. to 7p.m.)-(Saturday’s 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
