The Grant County Assessor’s Office has announced that, through the end of August, field staff will be conducting property reviews throughout the Village of Santa Clara. During this period, staff will be identifying and documenting any changes to properties, such as additions, carports, garages, sheds, or remodels. These updates will be incorporated into the assessment rolls to ensure accurate and equitable property valuations. The City of Lordsburg has taken a significant step in advancing its community infrastructure with the groundbreaking of a long-anticipated $1.2 million roadway improvement project in the Pyramid Heights neighborhood. This comprehensive initiative includes the construction of a new roadway, installation of ADA-compliant sidewalks, curbs and gutters, updated signage, and critical drainage enhancements. With construction now underway, the project is expected to greatly improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity for residents in the coming months.
Luna County 4-H members achieved outstanding success at the 2025 State 4-H Conference last week. The Agronomy Team earned the title of 2025 State 4-H Champions, with Braylin Chaffin recognized as the High Point Individual. Braylin also received top honors in the Wildlife competition, where Luna County’s Team 1 placed second overall and Team 2 secured third place. In the Entomology category, the local team achieved a second-place finish, with Almarae Schultz named High Point Individual. Additional accomplishments included a second-place finish in the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Bowl, along with strong performances in both Horticulture and Consumer Decision Making.

New Mexico residents will now benefit from more coordinated and comprehensive support for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers through the newly reactivated Long-Term Care Division. This division will oversee a range of essential programs, including New MexiCare, the Veterans-Directed Care Program, the Office of Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Care Transitions, and the Kinship Caregiver Pilot Program. In addition to program oversight, the division will lead statewide efforts to expand caregiver support, develop dementia-capable infrastructure, and enhance community-based services. Key priorities include ensuring continuity of care, providing caregiver training, and improving access to services in rural and tribal communities.
