The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department Forestry Division announced the rescission of the current Fire Restrictions Order #2022-02 prohibiting smoking, fireworks, campfires, and open fires on all non-municipal, non-federal, and non-tribal lands effective yesterday, August 1st. The fire restrictions were put in place on April 22nd due to the extreme fire danger the state was experiencing.
The Silver City Church of Christ is holding its annual Free Community Giveaway this Saturday, August 6th from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. According to a news release, the event is held as an opportunity to give away free items that include household items, men and women’s clothing size extra small to 4 extra-large, children and infant clothing, lots of shoes, coats, sweaters, jeans, casual dresses, prom dresses, and even a wedding dress. The Silver City Church of Christ is located at 1920 Little Walnut Road. All are welcome to attend. In addition, the Forestry Division and its partners will continue to monitor the environmental conditions statewide.
The New Mexico Human Services Department has transitioned the Behavioral Health Services Division information to a new website at yes.nm.com, the first phase of New Mexico’s Unified Portal project. According to a new release, “the new site is designed to be user-friendly and consumer-oriented to be used as a one-stop shop portal for New Mexicans to learn about, apply for, and manage their health and human services benefits. Customers will eventually be able to have access to apply for or renew services such as Medicaid, behavioral health, child support, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. In addition, customers will be able to access their benefit enrollment information, application assistance, and tailored referrals across New Mexico’s health and human services agencies without having to navigate multiple systems.” The unified portal is set to be completed by March 2023.
