Calvary Chapel of Silver City will be celebrating the grand opening of their new “Defenders Gym” this Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. The public is invited to join in on the festivities that will include a special ribbon cutting, speakers, free food and drinks, and live music. Visitors can try a half court basketball shot to win a prize. Calvary Chapel is located at 3001 South Highway 90 in Silver City.
Silver Consolidated Schools will be starting the 2022-23 school year on Thursday August 11th for all Silver and Cliff students. A Bell Schedule has been posted to the Silver Schools Facebook page. Bus routes and their schedules are continuing to be finalized and will be out at the end of the week.
The “Keep Luna County Beautiful” group is accepting letters if interest from youth-oriented community organizations for Illegal dumping and litter pick-up events in and around Luna County. According to a news release, organizations need to commit to participate at one illegal dump site pick up and The Great American Cleanup or Toss No Mas cleanup events in order to earn funds for their organization. Interested groups must contact the Luna County Community Development Liaison to apply.
The public can access the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish 2022-23 New Mexico Fishing Rules and Info Guide online for download and use. The guide is full of information on license fees, descriptions of sport fish and wildlife restoration programs, boating regulations, maps of New Mexico fishing waters, much more.
