Here’s a look at today’s headlines:
The Hurley Store hosted a Pumpkin Patch over the weekend to benefit the Hurley Pride Committee, which sponsors events throughout the year in Hurley, as well as for Christmas decorations and a decorations contest. Donors paid for the games and many of the pumpkins. Diaz Farms donated 150 pumpkins, and more than 150 more were purchased.
Silver City Town Manager Alex Brown was recently named the 2016 Energy Manager of the Year by the New Mexico Association of Energy Engineers for Silver City’s solar-powered wastewater treatment plant and the installation this year of radio-read water meters.
18-year-old Antonio Cordova was arrested and charged in two burglaries over the weekend from incidents occurring at Rough Country and Twisted Illusions. He is charged with 1 count of Aggravated Burglary, 1 count of Burglary, 2 counts of Receiving Stolen Property, 2 counts of Tampering with Evidence and 1 count of Evading a Peace Officer.
Prescription drug disposal is now being offered at the Bayard Public Safety Building. A new, green MedReturn kiosk offers convenient disposal for over-the-counter and prescription drugs. The kiosk is accessible Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
