As of the last update yesterday evening, the Signal Fire north of Silver City was estimated at 4,700 acres. The fire continues to spread north and east, and remains 0% contained. Last night, ever 500 personnel had been assigned to fight the blaze, including several air-tankers and a DC-10, known as a Very Large Air Tanker (LAT). Highway 15 from Ben Lilly Monument to Wildhorse Mesa remains closed, and the Big Tree Trailhead in Fort Bayard is currently closed to the public due to the incident command post being established in the area. Businesses in PA remain open, and the Gila Cliff Dwellings Monument can be accessed from Highway 35.
