The Gila Cliff Dwellings is advising all those who are planning on hiking Mogollon Baldy Peak to use extreme caution due to it still being winter on the higher summits. Most peaks and trails are covered in snow, therefore snowshoes, advanced navigation, winter hiking experience and self-rescue skills are essential if planning on hiking the peak. The Town of Silver City recognized the Apache people and the organization, “Fight Like a Girl” with a proclamation during their recent Town Council meeting. The Apache people were recognized for the achievements and culture of the Warm Springs Chiricahua Apache people, who were the original people of southwest New Mexico and have helped contribute to the diversity of the state and culture. The proclamation for “Fight Like a Girl” recognized the organization for their dedication to supporting women and girls by assisting and empowering them mentally, spiritually, academically and socially. 

Come join Western New Mexico University for the episode premiere of the Amazon Prime original series, “The College Tour” Mustang edition tomorrow, March 21st. The episode will showcase student stories and highlight the exciting adventures possible in the classrooms and labs to the outdoor activities awaiting future WNMU students. The premiere will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center Theatre and is free and open to the public. 

Luna County 4-H members have participated in various community service events to begin the new year. Last month, members of the club volunteered their time at the Luna County annual community service event where they helped deliver $1,200 worth of groceries to Luna County Healing House. Recently, Deming 4-H members volunteered to help walk, bathe, feed and care for the animals at the Deming Luna County Humane Society. The City of Lordsburg will be having a Town Hall meeting to discuss Code Enforcement, city projects, crime, animal control and more tomorrow, March 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lordsburg-Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce.
