Members of the Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Tau Chapter recently donated backpacks to Silver Consolidated Schools in support of the “Weekend Backpack Program”. The backpacks were filled with nonperishable food items and will be distributed by the school’s Nutrition Program throughout the week to students in need.

As a reminder, The New Mexico State Game Commission will be hosting a workshop and public listening session on April 19th in Silver City at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center. The commission is proud to welcome a full complement of seven members representing all districts and interests, which includes newly appointed Dr. Sabrina Pack as District 2 Game Commissioner for Catron, Socorro, Grant, Hidalgo, Luna, Sierra, and Dona Ana Counties. During the April event, the commissioners will hold a public listening session to learn about constituent needs and interests. Some anticipated topics will include the Elk Private Land Use System (EPLUS) and the Mexican Gray Wolf Program. The agenda and final details will be posted on the New Mexico Game and Fish website once they become available. The commission invites you to attend and provide input.

Congratulations to Noah Bratcher, Mireya Valentina Zapata, Willow Sprague-Robinson and Lacy Ann Lewis who were selected as New Mexico State Good Citizen Scholarship Award Program candidates by the Jacob Bennett Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. All four students attend high school in Grant County and were recognized for their dependability, truthfulness, loyalty, leadership and for their dedication to school and the community. The DAR Good Citizens program is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship and students’ interest in school and being involved in the community.
