Additional upgrades include new roadway striping from 14th Street to Rosedale and the installation of signage, flashing beacons, and speed radar detectors in the Arenas Valley area. The project is scheduled to be completed within 106 working days, with final completion anticipated by Fall 2025.

The Gila National Forest has announced that Wilderness District Ranger Brian Stultz is preparing to reauthorize the allotment for grazing 235 head of cattle. In anticipation of this, rangeland fencing and other grazing infrastructure are currently being repaired and maintained. Grazing activities are expected to begin in localized areas and gradually expand to encompass the full allotment over the course of several years. The public is advised to exercise caution while driving in the area, as livestock may be present on local roads. Visitors are also encouraged to support proper livestock management by leaving gates as they are found—leaving open gates open and closing closed gates after passing through.

Following the Trout Fire in Grant County, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) and the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), in coordination with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), promptly implemented restoration efforts to rehabilitate over 1,200 acres of critical habitat near the Bear Canyon Lake Wildlife Management Area. On July 15–16, these agencies collaborated to reseed the affected areas with a carefully selected mix of native grasses and sterile, fast-growing barley designed to stabilize soil, reduce erosion, and promote the recovery of vegetation essential to wildlife and watershed health.
