Grant County 4-H members showcased their exceptional skills in parliamentary procedure at the 2025 New Mexico State Parliamentary Procedure Contest, which challenges 4-H teams to demonstrate their understanding and application of parliamentary procedures, a set of rules used in meetings and decision-making processes. The team’s strong performance at the state level resulted from months of preparation and practice, during which they refined their knowledge of parliamentary rules and enhanced their ability to make quick, well-reasoned decisions. Their fourth-place finish reflects Grant County 4-H’s continued commitment to equipping young people with valuable leadership and public speaking skills. Hidalgo County will be having a public meeting regarding the Hidalgo County Comprehensive Plan, tomorrow, February 5th at 16 Hickory Street in Rodeo. The plan helps local governments plan for the future and includes information to help develop the County over the next five years. The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.

The New Mexico Jr. Livestock Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2025 NMJLF Scholarship Program. Applicants must meet several qualifications, including being a current member of a New Mexico 4-H Club or FFA Chapter, a high school senior in good academic standing, and having been accepted to a college, university, or vocational school. Additionally, applicants must submit two reference letters. The application deadline is April 1st.
