For the eighth consecutive year, every one of the 5,008 graves at Fort Bayard National Cemetery was honored with a wreath adorned with a red bow, made possible through the generosity of the Grant County community. More than 600 sponsors contributed to the effort, ensuring that a wreath was purchased for each gravesite. The project was coordinated by dedicated committee volunteers, whose hard work and organization helped continue this meaningful tradition of remembrance and respect for those laid to rest at the cemetery.

The historic arch at the north entrance to Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg has recently undergone an extensive restoration project. The work focused on enhancing the arch’s appearance while preserving its structural integrity and long-term durability. Improvements included removing old paint from the red brick through sandblasting, replacing the existing abutment caps, re-grouting damaged or deteriorated brick joints, installing new lettering in place of the former wooden sign, and replacing the old cross with a new design. In addition, work has begun on redesigning the entrance to Mountain View Cemetery as part of broader efforts to improve its overall appearance.
