As a reminder, The Diabetes Management and Prevention Program will be having their last January cooking class for adults with diabetes on January 31st. The class will give participants the opportunity to learn food safety, how to plan meals, read food labels, manage carbohydrates and how to cook meals in healthier ways. The class will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the HMS Community Health Center Kitchen located at 1007 North Pope Street. Classes are free but prior registration is required. Congratulations to the Silver High School Boys Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball team who both earned wins at the 2024 Lordsburg Tournament. Both teams competed against various high schools throughout New Mexico where the JV team clinched second place and the Varsity team came out with first place and won the championship. Good job to both teams!

The first movie of the year will take place on January 31st at 7:00 p.m. at Starmax Movie Theatre where they will be playing “Facing the Giants”. All movies are free and open to the public.
Community Partnership for Children in Silver City and the Family Leadership Team had many accomplishments in 2023. Since the Family Leadership Team started, they have developed an after-school program, a monthly newsletter and various projects and events for children and their families. The team is composed of parents within the community that are working together to help create a positive, flourishing environment for children in Grant County. New Mexico State University will be having a 4-H “Family Orientation” for those with questions about the 4-H program. They will be discussing travel, leadership, club and project opportunities, as well as how to get involved and become a 4-H member.
