Silver Consolidated Schools recently provided an update on the first phase of the Cliff Schools improvement project, which focuses on the architectural and engineering design process. This phase lays the groundwork for developing a modern, high-quality learning campus for students. The district will soon select an architectural and engineering firm to design the project, ensuring the plans meet New Mexico’s educational standards and address the needs of both students and staff. Throughout this process, the district will actively seek input and feedback from the community, staff, and students, offering opportunities for engagement as the designs evolve.
Since December, students from the Aldo Leopold High School Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Trails Crew have been diligently working to complete the Silva Creek Nature Trail, which will connect the historic Waterworks Building on Little Walnut Road to Penny Park. Recently, the students constructed a switchback along the trail as part of the ongoing project. This trail, which is integral to the Town of Silver City’s Trails and Open Space Plan, is a collaborative effort between the town and Southwest New Mexico ACT (swnmACT), a local nonprofit dedicated to cultural tourism and economic development in southwest New Mexico.
