The Silver City Public Library has added the streaming service Kanopy to their digital services for all those interested in streaming movies, videos and more. Kanopy provides a diverse collection of narrative and documentary films as well as a wide selection of TV series and movies. Those interested can register for free using their library card. As a reminder, the Gila National Forest has begun shutting down water systems and seasonally operated campgrounds across the forest. Some of the locations that will be affected are the Piñon and Juniper Campgrounds, located at Quemado Lake, Dipping Vat Campground, located at Snow Lake on the Reserve Ranger District and the Mesa Campground, located at Lake Roberts. Congratulations to Gila Regional Medical Center Trauma Nurse Roberta Berry who was appointed Chair of the Trauma Performance Improvement Committee for the New Mexico Trauma System. The committee is part of the New Mexico Trauma Improvement Plan, whose mission is to optimize care being delivered to patients all over New Mexico. Over the years, Roberta has led over 494 “Stop the Bleed Trainings”, been an Expert Panel member at the American College of Surgeons Committee and has been appointed to the American College of Surgeons Committee. This will be Mrs. Berry’s second year as part of the Trauma Performance Improvement Committee representing Level 4 Trauma centers.

The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) has launched a new unified hotline for all health inquiries, including reproductive health. The DOH helpline will offer guidance services such as: reproductive health services, COVID assistance, guidance in isolation/exposure protocols, infectious disease concerns and much more. The helpline will be available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on the weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be staffed by nurses who will be able to address any questions and concerns.
