Silver City Mainstreet is reminding the community that applications for the 31st Annual Lighted Christmas Parade are due by Monday, November 15th. Brenda Tozier, is coordinating the parade this year and announced that they are working with Santa Clara parade entries so they may save their floats to participate in both parades. The Grant County College Bound group is providing free tutoring and ACT prep every Monday evening at Silver High School in room 202 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Grant County College Bound is a nonprofit organization developed to help kids and youth in grades K-12 set their sights towards college and provide them with the tools necessary to prepare for, enroll in, and get accepted into a college or university through tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities. These activities are community based and rely upon the skills and talents of the public. Volunteers are always needed regardless of education, experience, talents, or abilities. This weekend many families in the community will be celebrating Halloween by spending time outdoors and by visiting trunk or treat events scheduled throughout the area. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to all their surroundings, never be distracted by cell phone use, and never drink and drive. Pedestrians are reminded to use all crosswalks and traffic signals when crossing the street, make sure children use a flashlight or glowstick, and never supervise more children then you can handle.
