The New Mexico Department of Health reported a COVID-19 case update that shows as of Wednesday, October 27th there were 959 new cases and sadly fifteen additional deaths statewide. Locally, newly reported COVID cases are as follows: Grant County with 69 news cases; Luna County with 15 new cases; Hidalgo County with 3 new cases; and Catron County with 4 new cases.

The Grant County Detention Center is hosting a Job Fair on Thursday, November 4th from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. in the Grant County Administration Building Commission Chambers located at 1400 Highway 180 East in Silver City. The Grant County Detention Center has many immediate job positions available offering many benefits including: Starting pay at $15.97 an hour; 100%  Medical, Dental and Vision premiums; Vacation and Sick Leave; Twelve paid holidays and one personal day per year; Retirement; Clothing Allowance, Shift Differential; Opportunity for promotional advancement ; Education Assistance; and Tuition Reimbursement. The last day for early voting for the Regular Local Election in Grant County is this Saturday, October 30th at the two locations comprised of the Grant County Clerk’s Office located at 1400 Highway 180 East in Silver City from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and the Bayard Community Center located at 290 Hurley Avenue in Bayard from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. The Regular Local Election Day is Tuesday, November 2nd from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Voting Convenience Centers in Grant County for election day include: The Silver City Women’s Club; Grant County Administrative Building; Bayard Community Center; Grant County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building; and San Lorenzo Elementary School.
