The Village of Santa Clara has reported that more than $8.3 million in grant funding has been secured for infrastructure, public facilities, parks and recreation projects, and beautification efforts. Major investments include street, sidewalk, drainage, water, and sewer improvements, as well as upgrades to community facilities and recreational amenities. Many of the projects will be completed over multiple years and are designed to improve local infrastructure while minimizing the impact on residents through the use of grant funding and limited local matching requirements.
A commemorative 250th anniversary plaque dedication ceremony was recently held in Silver City in recognition of the 250th milestone birthday of the United States and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The program highlighted the legacy of local historical figures and organizations involved in early civic development, as well as the enduring values of liberty, self-governance, and patriotism. The focus of the ceremony was to help emphasize the importance of historic preservation, civic education, and continued community engagement as part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration.
The Town of Hurley will hold a regular town meeting on June 9 at 5 p.m. at the Hurley Community Center. Some of the agenda items include consideration of a new animal control ordinance, approval of a funding agreement with the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission, adoption of the Fiscal Year 2028–2032 Infrastructure Capital Improvements Plan, discussion of Stage 2 fire restrictions, and public input. New Mexico has expanded its Health Professional Loan Repayment Program, offering eligible physicians up to $300,000 in student loan repayment assistance over four years to help address healthcare workforce shortages across the state. Approved through House Bill 66, the program increases physician awards from the previous maximum of $75,000 over three years to $300,000 over four years.
