Last week, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed House Bill 252 into law, establishing the Kinship Caregiver Support Pilot Program to assist grandparents and other relatives who assume caregiving responsibilities when parents are unable to do so. The legislation was developed in response to advocacy from families and community leaders seeking more comprehensive and meaningful support for kinship care arrangements.
