Governor Lujan-Grisham has announced that New Mexico’s emergency public order will be extended and amended to permit limited opens of businesses in accordance with required COVIS-Safe Practices. Starting on Monday, June 1st the following will be permitted:
- Restaurants can offer indoor dine-in service at 50% maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices
- Hotels can operate at 50% maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices
- Hair salons, nail salons, massage services, and related services may operate at 25% of maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices
- Gyms may operate at 50% of maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices
- Additional state parks will open for day-use only
At this time, retailers must still operate at a 25% maximum occupancy in accordance with COVID-Safe Practices. In addition, bars are still closed, breweries/wineries can still provide curbside pickup where permitted by license, mass gatherings are still prohibited, and face coverings must be worn in all public settings.
The Town of Silver City Fire Chief and the Town of Silver City has declared a “Local Emergency Circumstance” in reference to local fire restrictions. The order contains restrictions that there can be no building or maintaining of campfires, no open burning of yard waste, tree limbs, and weeds, only use of UL propane grills with lids, outdoor wood or charcoal burning device must have protective fore screens, and fire pits must have prior approval from the Silver City Fire Department. Hidalgo Medical Services is expanding its COVID-19 testing in both Grant and Hidalgo counties to include asymptomatic testing starting on Monday, June 1st. The drive-up service is by schedule only and free of charge. Individuals are urged to bring their insurance card. For more information, call HMS at 888-271-3596.
