The Deming MainStreet organization will be hosting their monthly networking meeting tomorrow, May 18th. This meeting will give entrepreneurs a chance to network with others to help their personal growth and business development skills. The meeting will take place at 800 East Pine Street from 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
EDUMed recently awarded top honors to Western New Mexico University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) online program. More than 7,000 programs nationwide were evaluated depending on their affordability, student support and academic rigor. The Silver City Public Library will be hosting a free workshop with dance group Baile Encanto on May 19th. The group will be teaching participants traditional Spanish dances. This is for children and teens and will take place at Gough Park at 4:00p.m. For more information call 575-538-3672.
House Bill 481 was recently signed into law by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. The bill will allow school districts across the state to bring new learning materials into their classrooms, using the state Reading Materials Fund. It will also give school districts the opportunity to access literacy education that is research-based that will help increase student success. School districts will be able to start applying for the funding in early July.
Lordsburg Hidalgo Library offers “Lego Club” for Junior and Master Builders. The groups meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month and are free to all who attend. The Junior Builders meets from 10:30a.m. to 11:30a.m. and the Master Builders meet from 12:00p.m. to 1:30p.m. For more information contact the library at 575-542-9646.
Congratulations to the Deming High School Wildcats golf team who won their second straight championship. Golfers Jacob Hernandez, Noah Holguin, Riley Apodaca, Tyler Jackson and Vari Mariscal won the Class 4-A Boys Golf State tournament in Bernalillo.
