The Hidalgo County Health Council will be hosting a Mental Health Vigil this Friday, May 12th. This is to help spread awareness and remember those who are suffering out loud and in silence. The vigil will take place at 7:00p.m. at the South Side School property. There will be multiple speakers and light refreshments will be provided.
Congratulations to Silver High Schools Esports team for their back to back State wins. Students Colton Traeger, Nalani Walsmith, Joshua Beck and Abel Madrid recently won the Class 4A State Esports title in Mario Kart 8 this past weekend in the 2023 Spring playoffs.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) recently sponsored “Week of the Young Child” in Lordsburg. The celebration had food, games and prizes for all who attended. This event is held every year and it is geared to focus on the needs of young children and their families and to help provide programs and services to meet those needs.
Luna County had their annual “Celebration of Life” Cancer Walk this past weekend. The event raised funds for the nonprofit organization, Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County. This organization helps community members who are undergoing cancer treatment with rides, vouchers, a cancer resource library and more.
The Deming MainStreet organization is having a free block party featuring the 575 Band. It will take place this Saturday, May 13th from 7:00p.m. to 11:00p.m. at South Silver Avenue between Pine and Hemlock streets. This event will feature country, classic rock and some Spanish music.
