The Jacob Bennett Daughters of the American Revolution Silver City Chapter recently celebrated 120 years since its founding. The chapter was founded 12 and a half years after the founding of the national group in 1898 and was the second chapter in New Mexico after the founding of the Santa Fe chapter. The organization awards scholarships, Good Citizens awards and participates in a variety of local community events. They are currently in partnership with the Village of Santa Clara in the creation of Pollinator Houses that will be a portion of the new Farmers Market in the village. Thank you to the Jacob Bennett Chapter for all you do for the community.

Congratulations to Vynny Chavez from Deming High School who was selected to play for the Mustangs Baseball team at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs. Mr. Chavez played his last high school all-star game this past weekend where he collected two base hits and broke up a no-hit bid with a sharp single. Vynny signed a letter of intent to play for the Mustangs in May and will be attending the University in August where he plans on taking general studies while playing baseball.
