According to a news release, Freeport McMoRan has been named one of the 50 most community-minded companies in the United states according to the Points of Light annual list of the “Civic 50.” The nonpartisan global organization, Points of Light, created an initiative called The Civic 50 that rates companies with annual U.S. revenues of at least $ billion based on how they drive positive social impacts within their organizations and in the communities where they operate. Freeport McMoRan has earned a spot on the Points of Light annual list of The Civic 50 every year since its inception in 2012.
The board meeting of the Upper Gila Valley Arroyos Watershed District will be held Monday, July 11th at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Fire Station in Cliff, New Mexico and also via zoom link. Residents can request a copy of the agenda or obtain additional by calling 575-388-1569.
On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. The July 4th, Independence Day holiday has been a federal holiday since 1870. In 1941, the provision was expanded to grant a paid holiday to all federal employees. In addition, according to the National Archives, “the very first Independence Day celebration took place not on July 4th but on July 8th! On that day in 1776, the first celebration took place in Philadelphia. The Declaration of Independence was read aloud, city bells rang, and bands played. The following year, Philadelphia’s celebration moved to July 4 – the actual date of the adoption of the Declaration.”
