State officials from the New Mexico Department of Health are alerting the public that a troubling scam operation currently exists that affects citizens statewide. The scam allows the perpetrators to steal valuable personal identity information from members of the public by posing as the New Mexico health website. New Mexicans should ignore any text messages or emails referencing the website n m health dot NET. The real NMDOH website is nmhealth.org.

The open enrollment period for New Mexicans regarding comprehensive health insurance is approaching according to beWellnm, the state’s health insurance marketplace. Residents have until January 15th to sign up for low-cost or no-cost health insurance. People who enroll by January 15th will get a comprehensive health insurance plan that is effective back to January 1st, 2022. New Mexicans can get assistance finding and enrolling in a health insurance plan through beWellnm.com or by calling 1-833-862-3935.

The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District is planning to facilitate burn piles through winter and spring months as weather conditions permit. According to a news release the locations of the burn piles will be as follows:

  • Off Highway New Mexico 35 near Desert West Junction
  • Lake Roberts off Forest Drive and Forest Service Road 4206M
  • Off New Mexico Highway 35 behind Camp Thunderbird and by the Old GOS Ranch
  • Between Lincoln and Terry canyons along Forest Service Roads 4202K and 4202L
  • And some Administrative sites
