The New Mexico Department of Health issued a COVID-19 update for Wednesday, January 5th consisting of 2,514 new cases statewide with an increased 7-day positivity rate of 20.6%, up from 19.8%. Locally, new COVID cases were reported as follows: Grant County with 64 new cases; Luna County with 12 new cases; Hidalgo County with 7 new cases; and Catron County with 1 new reported case. In addition, there are 497 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. This number may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently hospitalized in New Mexico. This number does not include New Mexicans who tested positive for COVID-19 and may have been transferred to a hospital out of state.
Silver Consolidated Schools Board of Education is seeking bids to supply milk for the Silver Consolidated Schools District for the 2022-23 schools year. All proposals must be submitted no later than January 24, 2022 by 2:00 P.M. The Silver City Public Library has announced several different January events that are free open to the public. The events include:
- Game Day with a large assortment of games scheduled for Thursday January 13th from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. The event is tailored for ages 2 through 19 and includes a small prize raffle.
- A free movie showing on Saturday, January 15th from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M.
- A kids and teens Future Engineers event on Thursday, January 20th from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M.
- A gathering of the Minecraft Club on Thursday, January 27th from3:00 to 5:00 P.M.
