The Village of Santa Clara is letting community members know that Caddel Crossing will be closed until March 18th due to work on the low water crossing. The crossing will be having a culvert and grate added along with a new surface to allow the water from the creek to go under the crossing. Extreme caution and planning routes accordingly is recommended.
Last week, Silver Consolidated School District kicked off their first Facilities Master Plan Meeting. Every five years, the New Mexico Public Schools Insurance Authority requires the creation of a master plan to guide construction and improvements for educational facilities all over New Mexico. Silver Schools has gathered a variety of members representing a cross-section of the community—from parents, staff, and community leaders from Cliff and Silver High. The goal in developing the Master Plan is to not only enhance the school environments but to help foster places where students can thrive and be successful for years to come.
Congratulations to Deming High School Sophomore Laura Almanza who wrestled her way to four straight wins in the 138-pound weight class to claim the New Mexico State Wrestling Championship. Throughout Laura’s wrestling career, she finished 4th at state as a freshman in 2022-23, she finished the 2023-24 wrestling season with a 35-3 won/loss record and was undefeated against other female New Mexico opponents at the 2024 wrestling championship.
The Town of Bayard approved the purchase of the “Text My Gov” program during their recent Regular Town Hall Meeting. The program will provide texts to Bayard residents that are signed up for the program regarding water line repairs, water line breaks, utility bill payments and more. It would also give community members the opportunity to text the city with any questions or concerns that they may have regarding current projects going in Bayard.

Students from Animas Middle School recently visited the Biosphere 2 in Oracle, Arizona as part of their “Learning Outside the Classroom” series that helps students learn in the real world. During the trip, students were able to participate in hands-on activities and learn how the Biosphere 2 conducts research and fosters leadership initiatives that focus on developing solutions for the planet and beyond. The “Learning Outside the Classroom” program helps students learn through hands-on activities outside the classroom, all while rewarding them for their efforts and hard work in achieving their goals.
