Congratulations to Lordsburg High School freshman Isaac Duarte who recently won the National History Day in New Mexico T-shirt Design Contest with his artwork depicting Camp Lordsburg. His design was chosen from over 60 submissions from schools statewide, all of which were required to align with the National History Day theme, “Rights and Responsibilities in History.” In recognition of his accomplishment, Isaac will receive a special certificate during the state finals award ceremony in April at Central New Mexico in Albuquerque.

The Silver City Waterworks Building is partnering with the Continental Divide Trail Coalition to support thru-hikers during Trail Days weekend in April. In a generous effort to assist these adventurers, the Waterworks Building will offer free camping, providing hikers with a place to rest and recharge. This community landmark not only serves as a point of historical significance but also as a welcoming spot for those traveling along the Continental Divide Trail. Camping registration is now open, and space is limited. For further details, interested individuals are encouraged to visit the Continental Divide Trail Coalition’s Facebook page.
