The Silver City Gospel Mission will be providing a Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings on Monday, December 25th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The dinner will be served at the Silver City Gospel Mission located at 111 South Texas Street and all community members are welcome. The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce recently held their 2023 Grant County Awards Banquet where four individuals and four businesses received awards for their commitment and dedication to Grant County. The winner for “Citizen of the Year” was Laura Phelps, “Employee of the Year” went to Belinda Castillo, “Small Business of the Year” went to Melinda’s Medical Supply, “Business of the Year” went to The County of Grant, “Volunteer of the Year” went to Vicki D. Galindo, “Non-Profit of the Year” went to the Center for Health Innovation, “Lifelong Service to the Community” went to Morris Chiropractic Center and the “Linda K. Jones Humanitarian” award went to Annette Toney. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the community.
Need help with Math or need to prepare for your GED? Literacy Link-Leamos in Silver City offers free one-on-one tutoring for Grant County residents. Their volunteers can help with Basic Adult Literacy, English as a Second Language, Citizenship, GED Exam Prep and much more. Classes take place Monday through Friday. Silver Consolidated Schools would like to thank Jazmina Villegas, Brandi Jaure, Leslie Cook, Silver High School staff and all the volunteers and donors that came together to raise $1,000 worth of Christmas gifts to donate to children in need. A total of 295 children from the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office and the TRI county area were able to receive gifts this Holiday season.
In Lordsburg News: If you are interested in learning about the history of Lordsburg and Hidalgo County, the Lordsburg-Hidalgo County Museum has reopened and has many historical items for all to see. They have an assortment of photos, a mining and military exhibit, vintage home appliances, typewriters and much more. They now have extended their hours on Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and are located at 710 East 2nd Street. Admission is free.
