Here’s a look at some local news brought to you by Silver City Radio.
An amended emergency public health order issued yesterday by Acting Health Secretary David R. Scrase, M.D., will effectively require many workers in high risk environments to receive a COVID-19 booster shot when eligible. The announcement was made as the World Health Organization and governments world-wide expresses concern over the newly identified omicron variant of the virus. In addition, the CDC has expressed their recommendation on COVID booster shots stating that all adults should receive one either six months after completing a Pfizer or Moderna series, and two months after a Johnson & Johnson shot. These workers include individuals in all health care and congregate-care settings – be vaccinated and receive the booster shot. Public school workers and state employees, meanwhile, must submit to weekly COVID-19 testing if they are not vaccinated. Those workers must receive a booster dose no later than January 17th, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible.
