PNM made donations totaling $150,000 to food banks across New Mexico including Silver City. Locations receiving funding included the Silver City Gospel Mission that serves the southern New Mexico area and El Refugio that serves the Silver City area. The generous donation was made by PNM shareholders, no customer funds were used for this effort.

New Mexico Lt. Governor Howie Morales has invited residents to attend the official inauguration of Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham and himself this New Year’s Day, January 1st in Santa Fe at the Lensic Theater. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture has announced at $563,843 in funding has been awarded to seven specialty crop projects, one including a focus on minimizing the risk on contaminating chile products. According to a news release, “The New Mexico State University (NMSU) Food Safety Laboratory plans to work with the New Mexico chile industry to minimize the risk of contamination by pathogenic microorganisms and ensure the safety and quality of chile during production and during the manufacture of value-added products. Titled, “Training, Testing and Technical Support for Improved Safety and Quality of New Mexico Chile Products,” this project will ultimately benefit chile, onion and pecan growers and processors, as well those who manufacture foods, such as frozen and canned products.”
