The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District has announced to the public that the Mesa Campground on Lake Roberts will be closing for the winter season starting Sunday, January 2nd until Friday, March 11th, 2022. All other campgrounds on the Wilderness Ranger District, including Upper End Campground on Lake Roberts, will remain open throughout the winter. In addition to this announcement, the trash service customarily provided will be limited during the winter season. Visitors should also be mindful of hazards that can be present during the colder months, such as sudden weather and temperature changes and falling trees due to windy and snowy conditions. The 3rd Annual “Deming’s Got Talent” event that was scheduled for Friday, December 17th at Cesar Chavez Charter High School will be rescheduled due to an increase of COVID-19 exposure at the venue as well as not enough registrations at this time. This youth talent show will be planned again for January or early February to assure the safety of all the students, personnel, and attendees.

The Grant County Public Health Office, located at 2610 North Silver Street in Silver City is hosting a Drive-Thru COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic tomorrow, Tuesday, December 21st from 9:00 A.M. to 12 P.M. and 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. They will be offering Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. The public can schedule online at vaccine nm dot org or call the Grant County Public Health Office at 575-538-5318, extension 4.
