Bruce Ashburn, Community Manager for PNM presented an Electrical Lighting Retrofit Rebate check in the amount of $35,844.55 to the Grant County Commission during a Special Meeting this week. The lighting retrofit project was executed by the Grant County Maintenance Department and PNM estimates that the County will save approximately 710,000 kilowatts per year because of this retrofit project. In additional Grant County Commission news, the Special Meeting for Monday August 30th at 9:00 A.M. that was posted for the Grant County Administration Building, has been moved to the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center located at 3031 U.S Highway 180 in Silver City. This meeting will not be streamed live, but it will be available later as a recording on the County’s website at grantcountynm.gov. All Covid-19 Safety Practices from the current Public Health Order will be enforced.
Luna County is currently seeking public input on a 2023-2027 Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan. This local plan establishes priorities for anticipated capital projects and encourages entities to be prepared for emergency situations and still be able to plan for, fund, and develop infrastructure at a sustainable pace. Residents of Luna County are invited to submit project ideas, provide supporting data and testimony, including photos and other pertinent information by September 3rd. The last “Music in the Park” event for this season is tonight from 6:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Viola Stone Park in Santa Clara. This free family event features “The Siempre Band” and various vendors. “Music in the Park” is made possible by the Santa Clara Action Committee.
The Silver City Museum is presenting a series of free virtual lectures and forums titled “Unpacking Silver” focusing on themes relevant to local and Southwest New Mexican history.
