Theater 101, a Silver City Community Theater workshop, will be introducing participants to the jobs, etiquette, and traditions of the various roles of the theater on Tuesday, January 14th at 6:00 P.M. Joe Navan, who has presented this workshop for years to theater groups throughout Arizona, now manages The Silco Theater for Silver City Mainstreet Project. According to a news release, now after 5 years and many productions, SCCT’s mission continues: to enrich, educate and entertain the Silver City and Grant County communities by providing a broad range of live theater experiences on a recurring, seasonal basis.
The Create the Good Honoring Heroes Contest sponsored by AARP is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on a non-profit organization serving veterans in the community or on a veteran who has made a difference in your life! Enter by sharing a brief essay (and photo) about: The impact of a 501(c)3 organization serving veterans in your community; The difference a veteran has made in your life; or the impact you have seen firsthand from a military training or deployment. Submit your entry by the Dec 31, 2019 deadline. All entries will be featured on the Create the Good site and can be voted for by the general public. The 10 entries that receive the most votes by Dec 31, 2019 will be the finalists. The winner will then be chosen from those among those finalists by a committee of volunteer judges. In a news release from the Forest Service, the Gila National Forest will soon officially release a draft revised land management plan and draft environmental impact statement for public comment. Due to a variety of considerations, the documents have been made available on the Gila National Forest’s plan revision web page, go dot usa dot gov slash h88k, ahead of the official release. The official release will occur when the Environmental Protection Agency publishes a Notice of Availability in the Federal Register. It is anticipated that the Notice of Availability will be published in early January 2020 which will start the formal 90-day comment period.
