The NMDOT will be closing the gates to NM 159, the Bursum Road for the winter months as of yesterday. Winter weather conditions make the roadway impassable. The road is closed from milepost 12.3, just past Mogollon and the upper milepost 22.6 by Willow Creek Campground. Travelers are asked to use US 180 to NM 12 by Reserve to NM 435 by Reserve Beaverhead Road for access into Willow Creek, Snow Lake and the Gila National Forest. The New Mexico Department of Transportation will monitor the area and is expected to reopen this roadway sometime late April to mid-May.

PNM makes a donation to food banks across New Mexico just in time for the holidays. A donation of $150,000 will make a positive impact to food banks and will help New Mexico families who live in a food-insecure household. No customer funds were used for this generous PNM donation. 14 food banks received funding from PNM yesterday. Along with many food banks across the state, the Gospel Mission and El Refugio in Silver City were among the recipients. This donation will in no way erase the need for support.  If you or your family live in a food-insecure household, reach out to your local food bank for help.
