At the time of this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced 7,800 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases. There have been 203,115 tests performed statewide, 191 current COVID-19 related hospitalizations, and 2,888 cases designated as having recovered according to the Department of Health. In addition, sadly there has been 362 COVID-19 related deaths recorded statewide. Positive COVID-19 cases in Grant County remain at 15 with 1,722 tests administered, Luna County with 8 cases and 1,379 tests administered, Catron County remaining at 2 with 99 tests administered, and Hidalgo County with 1 confirmed case and 281 tests administered.
The Gila National Forest released information of a bear encounter in a dispersed camping area neat the Continental Divide Trail off of Forest Road 150. It is advised when in the forest be aware you the surroundings, carry bear spray, keep a clean camp and store food-related items inside a closed hard-sided vehicle or special bear-resistant container except when preparing meals or eating. The New Mexico Department of Game & Fish has several publications which are available online and at Gila National Forest ranger stations. Regarding the 2020 Primary Election, Voting Convenience Centers will be open until 7:00 P.M. this evening. Voters can also drop off their absentee ballots on at any polling location: The locations include the following:
