The 31st edition of the Tour of the Gila “Gila Monster Road Race” concludes the race week on Sunday with Day 5 –a grueling 105-mile race with over 9,100 feet of climbing and more than 8,200 feet of descent! Races start at Gough Park in Silver City at 7:30 am and end in Pinos Altos in front of the Buckhorn. Come up to PA to watch exciting uphill finishes, and the podium ceremonies for all categories. Racers start crossing the finish line at 10:45, with the UCI Men rounding out the event at 1 pm. Streets surrounding Gough Park will be closed from 6 to 9:15 am. A road closure on NM 15 will begin at 9 am and end at 1:30 pm from Bear Creek Cabins in P.A. to the intersection with NM 35. Everyone is encouraged to plan accordingly if they need to travel in the area. This closure will not affect businesses in P.A. The “Gila Monster Road Race” proves that “Gila” is one of the toughest races in the US, with high altitude climbs, screaming fast descents and winding roads. “Paid in part by Silver City Lodger’s Tax.”
