- The Southwestern New Mexico State Fair is in Deming October 4th thru 8th! This year’s theme is “Remember When, Celebrating the Present by Honoring our Past,” which means fun for the entire family at the fairgrounds in Deming. Just $5 for adults and $3 for kids gets you into the fair. Come out and support the Jr. Livestock shows, Fair Queen Contest, Ranch Rodeo at noon on Saturday, Fairground Showdown Superior Boxing from 3 to 8pm Saturday, gymkhana on Sunday at 9am, followed by a team roping at 1pm. Enjoy the carnival all fair long as well as great entertainment. DJ George Ortiz from 6 to 9pm Friday night, followed by the fair dance by Horizon Band from 9pm to midnight. Repeat the fun Saturday night, as DJ George Ortiz kicks things off again, followed by fair dance with entertainment by the Caliente Band until midnight and the “Dance in the Dirt” arena dance by Turner Mac Band.
