Early voting began today at the Grant County Clerk’s office. Sample ballots are available at the NM Secretary of State’s website at https://portal.sos.state.nm.us/OVR/WebPages/SampleBallot.aspx. Early voting is available through November 5th, 2016.
Western New Mexico University has recently been ranked high on several online ratings websites focusing on affordability and academic offerings. Most recently, the online master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies offered at WNMU was ranked second in a list of top 30 online master’s in liberal studies degree programs for 2016.
Code enforcers for the City of Deming will be out this week making sure yards and residential neighborhoods in town are up to standards when it comes to weed control. Code enforcers will be going door-to-door to hand out letters and make sure that residents are in compliance with city ordinances.
In sports action, Western New Mexico junior Melanie Hughes led WNMU to a pair of wins over Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce last week, earning Setter of the Week in Lone Star Conference play. Hughes had 36 assists, a kill, a service ace and 11 digs. Hughes averaged six assists per set in the Mustangs 6-2 offense as WNMU recorded a .370 team hitting percentage.
