Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

The Kerr Fire on the Reserve Ranger District was reported this morning at 9,300 acres and 55% contained.  Interior aerial ignitions occurred yesterday and are expected to continue today.  Hand ignition will also continue along FR289 from South Squirrel Springs Canyon toward FR94.  Resources will be holding, patrolling, and monitoring throughout the day today.

The Baca Fire, located 6 miles northeast of Quemado Lake, is reported at 672 acres, a two acre growth from Thursday’s report of 670.  However, as the weather continues to dry out over the next few days, fire activity is expected to increase and smoke will become more visible from surrounding communities.  FR 13D and FR 323 remain closed until a hazard assessment can be completed.
