The USDA Forest Service is set to resume construction activities at the Mineral Creek tailings pile site in mid-October 2024. Located in the Mogollon Mining District near Alma, New Mexico, on the Glenwood Ranger District of the Gila National Forest, the project will involve re-grading the material into a stable shape and armoring it with locally sourced rock riprap. Once construction is complete, disturbed areas will be seeded to restore the landscape. While Mineral Creek Road will remain open during the construction, the public is advised to be mindful of their surroundings and drive cautiously, as heavy equipment may be present. The project is expected to be finished by the end of December 2024.
