Over the past several months, multiple organizations worked together to address rising concerns surrounding bullying, cyberbullying and youth suicide among students in Grant County. Their collaboration resulted in a partnership with Stand for the Silent, which delivered presentations to students at Silver High and Cobre High School. The personal and candid presentations highlighted the harsh realities and long-term effects of bullying, while strengthening the community’s collective commitment to prevention and student well-being.
The Bayard City Council recently approved a resolution supporting an application to the Colonias Infrastructure Fund for the survey and design of several city streets. The selected streets are primarily dirt roads and were chosen to avoid areas where water or wastewater infrastructure would need replacement, preventing future disruption to completed work. If awarded, the project would include portions of Joan, Winifred, Steyskal, Lusk, Killian, Vanadium, Watson and Virginia streets, with multiple segments connecting to U.S. 180 and nearby residential areas.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is reviewing state hunting rules and is accepting public comment as part of its decision-making process. The four proposed changes currently under consideration affect Barbary sheep, oryx, Persian ibex, javelina, migratory birds and turkey.
