Congratulations to the Silver High School Future Career Community Leaders of Americas (FCCLA) team who were selected to compete in the National FCCLA Conference in Seattle, Washington. The FCCLA provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills in Hospitality, Tourism, Visual Arts and Design, Education and Training and Human Services. There will be three categories of competition with students Araceli Saucedo and Dawn Jameson competing in Public Policy Level 3. Good luck to all FCCLA team members.

The Mayor of the Village of Santa Clara has announced that construction on Bellm Street is coming to an end. The street is currently being paved and lines are being painted so the street can open to the public by July 4th. The street will only be open to traffic up to the cemetery, due to work still being completed on Caddell Crossing, which is expected to be completed by the end of July. 

Last in our News is a list of events going on tomorrow for the 4th of July:

The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce will be having their Independence Day parade and Patriotic Freedom festival with music, food, performances and more. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. on the corner of Pope and 13th Street with the festivities beginning at 11:00 at Gough Park. 

The Silver City Museum will be having their 40th annual Ice Cream Social from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the museum courtyard. There will be music, food, craft vendors, free children’s activities and of course ice cream. 

The City of Lordsburg and the Lordsburg Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual 4th of July Pyrotechnic Show and festivities. There will be free swimming from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lordsburg Municipal Swimming Pool with fireworks beginning at Dusk. 

Glenwood will be having a three day celebration beginning July 4th to July 6th with a parade, fireworks, food and a Ranch Rodeo. The fun starts at 5:00 p.m. at Glenwood Park with the 4th of July parade. For more information on times and days of events, visit Glenwood, New Mexico’s Facebook page.

The City of Deming will be having a “Block Party” with fireworks, music, food and more. All events will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Trees Lake.
